Blessing in disguise
March 14, 2008
The Hong Kong government announced late on Wednesday that all primary schools and kindergartens would be closed for two weeks to prevent further spread of a flu outbreak. Four dead have been reported, all of children age 2 to 7 years old. I was shocked. I had earlier learned about the increased number of flu cases in HK from starhub HK news channel but it was not reported on the media here until yesterday; after the government made that drastic announcement in hope to control situation and exercise extreme cautious. Better be safe than sorry. I lauded the government’s move. Unfortunately, you’ll be surprised that there are some parents who criticise the move claiming it was too last minute and that they do not know what they should do with their children now that they gets 2 weeks off. Ridiculous? It’s true….
Now don’t the postponement of my trip is a blessing in disguise? Phew… big big phew.

You are lucky lor. I remembered the last time we planned to go to HK, JE breakout. Luckily, we cancel the trip as it has gotten worse. Some working parents felt that they need to take 2 weeks off to take care of their kids. Maybe it’s a hassel for them to take leaves.
