17 month old baby can read
March 11, 2008
I came across this link while browsing earlier and thought it’s pretty interesting to share.
The parents of Elizabeth, 17 month old claimed that the baby’s ability to read at such young age was influenced by sign language they taught her since young. I’m not too sure about that as me for sure did not teach Ryan any sign language, probably that explains why he showed no interest in speech until he was like 18 months.
On the other hand, I have parents who shared with me their tot’s speech development were hindered because the child was so used and dependant on sign rather than language in expressing their want and needs.
There are lots of books on this topic out there. But I guess why the rush right…. let the child develop at their own pace and keep a reasonably healthy track of their milestone ma ok lor…

Oh somebody knocked on my door when I was typing. He is a boy scout, probably age 10 or so asking for donation. He said they can wash the car, polish shoes, etc etc… I gave a small donation and signed the card. No need to help me do anything la. I have sotong ma. Somehow it kinda reminded me of the days I combed the street selling flags as part of a donation drive organised by my school. Mmm.. sure feels so good after a good deed.
