Some updates about my little kulingchingkwai. Enjoy~
The sweet little face that that promised me sweet dreams every night… and times of nap. It’s actually quite easy to get Ryan to bed if he’s ready for one. A bottle of milk will do the trick. However, when he’s not sleepy, it takes a little bit more effort – ranging from lullabies, bed time stories, etc. When all good efforts failed.. I have to use the last resort –> LIZARD. Yes.. the creepy lizard. Not in real though..
Pic taken during his morning nap
~~Good Morning Baby~~
My ‘gai ching’ (chicken essence) that gives me a boost of energy every morning. Being the face that greets me good morning everyday.
One of my friend commented Ryan has this ‘lum sei lui’ smile (aka the ‘half’ smile that melts a girl’s heart). True ar? Hmm.. my opinion… mmm..not sure but I think he has Jackie Chan’s nose la..
~~Shower Time~~
Nothing could get Ryan more excited than ‘pom-pom’ time cos that also mean he could play with the shower head. The first time I showered him back in KL, he was soooo upset when we signalled timeout that he screamed and wailed his lungs out. I’ve never seen him so upset. Eversince then I tried to avoid showering him until now we’re in SG, the shower area is simply too small for a tub nor to fit two people inside. So for the past one week plus I’ve been showering him inside the bath tub instead. Well, I guess practise makes perfect. He’s no pulling faces, no longer upset when I turn off the water. Why? I discovered another trick lor. After we’re done, I’ll just have to tell him (scare him to be precise.. I’m such evil), Ryan…see got creases/lines on your fingers already. Hurry up before it spreads all over your body and face. I’m not sure if he understands the whole thing but Terra.. he’ll be out, wrapped in towel in no time; all with no single fuss.
Blehhh…

~~ Boredom Casted on His Face~~
Poor baby. So ‘moon’. Pic taken just before we left the house for our new apt whereby a new toy awaits him. I cant wait to move in soon so Ryan could be reunited with all his other toys.
Like father like son?
New toy from Ikea. Hmm.. still doesn’t looked too pleased there heh… (more toyssss pls)
~~ Fussy baby~~
The 16th month old start making his decision. Yes.. that’s what Ryan does lately. Generally Ryan is quite cincai when it comes to most things such as food, clothes, toys etc but these few days he tested the water on my patience when he leant he could actually decide for himself. For a start, nowadays he decides – No. 1) The CDs he want to watch on the telly and No.2) The shoe he wants to wear.
Pic above shown 3 of his most fav CDs. Ryan would pick the CD based on the pic he saw on the CD label. If you decide to put another one, he’ll shove the one he picked right to us until we run it on the player. Aah.. last few days I ended up watching Brainy Baby again and again and again until I think I could remember everything about it.
Ryan has about 4 pairs of shoes but this white one is by far his all time fav. I have at least two pairs of Ryan’s shoes in my car. In the car, I’ll ask him to pick a pair he wants to wear. Speaking of coincidence or what but it’s always the white pair that he chooses. Even if he picks the other pair, he’ll be seen attempting to pull the shoes off after awhile. Really ‘yim chim’ (fussy).
~~ I don’t need a maid~~
Such a great helper I have here.. who said this mommy needs a maid…
As seen on clip, Linda was teasing Ryan there to wipe clean the table. Ryan took a look at the hanky and said ‘mei you’ suggesting it’s not dirty. Probably thinking why this silly Linda asked me to clean the table when it’s not dirty..
Ps: Ryan likes to use his left hand alot.. indication of him being a lefty?

Wonderful Clip
I want to share this video clip. I had tears in my eyes when I watched this. Not because it was anything sad.. infact quite the opposite. The little 7 year old girl was simply remarkable and talented. She definitely made her mommy behind stage extremely proud. Enjoy~~

A Happy Day~~
@ 16 months 1 week 2 days
It’s been our 6th day in Singapore. I don’t know whether it’s just me or what but I actually lost track of what date today is. It never (at least very rarely) occurred to me when I was still in the workforce but this morning I woke up and start to wonder hey, today what date ar? What day ar? Sei lor.. 6th day only the sign of ‘wong min por’ is revealing~~~ Help!
Iryne, ‘Wong Min Por’ mommy and Ryan (wearing the shirt from her)
If you noticed my hair is actually in a mess. What happened was I went for a rebonding just days before I left for SG. My hair had been straight all the while but me ’san hun’ (out of the blue) wanted them even straighter thus the decision to go for it. But… in the end, instead of having smooth silky straight hair, I came back with damage not just in my pocket but my hair too. Arrgghh!! So dry and damaged now. Anyone know any good salon in Singapore?? Help me please… I don’t want to have Bad Hair Day EVERYDAY.
I must say I have not been entirely pleasant since our arrival into the lion city on Monday. I’ve been grumbling and making foul faces all day (siow mommy). The most trivial thing will upset me the whole day. It doesn’t helped when I found out my mom slipped and fell the other night while on her way to switch off the aircon middle of the night. I was really upset and worried sick that day. Thank goodness the x-ray came out fine. Just some medication to heal the swelling will do her good.
And.. my poor hubs always ‘kena’ from me though he himself has been under the weather last few days, yet had to study for a test. Thinking back.. I’m such evil. I bet his pressure is way above mine; new environment, new job etc. Yet he did the most wonderful thing for his moody wife today. We walked into this shop after dimsum as hubs needed to get a pair of new shoes. After browsing around, we saw the bag that I have been eyeing for since early of the month when I landed my pair of panda eyes on it at the airport. And yes… he bought me the bag. Really really made my day. See, until I missed my nap. Blehh…
Thank you B. I promised I will be good and no more unneccessary ‘fatt thee than’ ya.
(Gifts can really bribe me.. Kekekeke)
My new bag~ Yoohoo~~
It’s not easy to get Ryan to wear anything on his head. Below a pic of Ryan with a cap on. One of those very rare occassion~~. Love the pic! Love my baby even more!
Taken yesterday at Baby Fair, Ngee Ann City

We’re in Singapore
Bidding farewells, yes it sucks!!!! My heart has never felt so heavy.
** Farewells with friends and colleagues – managable
** Farewells with relatives – heart a bit ‘mm shue fok’ yet still managable
** Farewells with nanny – started to feel the pinch. I knew it was going to be difficult but I made a point I have to go pick up Ryan that day so I could thank nanny personally. I don’t know about Ryan but I for sure, was very sad (very very infact)… When I started to load Ryan’s stuff into my car, I think nanny felt it too as I think I could see tears in nanny’s eyes. Arrggh.. don’t I hate goodbyes.
** Farewells with families – ‘Wahlau’ (SG slang already)… extremely difficult and sad. The biggest challenge was to control myself from getting emotional and to stop my tears from flowing down my cheek. Paiseh ma.. It was supposed to be a happy occassion but those who know me will know I am a very ‘ngan chien’ mommy who will even cry at animated cartoons (eg Hunchback of the Notre Dame, Beauty and The Beast alike). So did I cry? Heehee… *secret*
@ 6am; the day we left for Singapore.. all geared for the journey
Teary Farewell
Anyways, here we are in Singapore after 4 hours drive. Linda came along with us as we felt we needed her to help out with the cleaning up of the place. She will bw our ezrea pair of hands until my inlaws’s visit end of Aug.
Today is our 2nd day in SG. My friend MSN-ed me ‘hey, so are you getting used to being a tai-tai’ yet? Arrgghh.. if a tai-tai’s daily schedule is as hectic as mine, I think no one on earth wants to become one. It was tiring…. VERY.
Day1: After the long hours’ drive, we drove straight to the furniture mall @ The Plaza, since we could only checked in to the service apt after 2pm. We spent 4 hours there shopping for settees, dining table, TV consoles etc!!! Even after 4 hours we did not get all the furnitures we need but Ryan was very tired by then and I am no better so I demanded home. I know hubs is not happy as he really wanted to get all the furniture shopping done at one go. There goes, some tongue lashing between hubs and wife. Arrghhh!!! Did we end up home or continue to shop? We went home.
@ the service apartment (Cairnhill Tower)
Day2: Mover delivered our ‘goods’. 4 of them came this time and stayed for 3 hours to unpack all the packages. Again by the time they are all done, I am all tired eventhough I didn’t do anything besides taking care of Ryan while hubs and Linda manages the whole supervision and cleaning. Am I old or what? By 1pm I asked hubs to send Ryan and myself back to the service apt so Ryan (and mommy) could nap. Linda insisted to stay so she could clean and tidy up the place. She’s indeed a great help. When we got back to our unit 3 hours later, the place was 80% cleaned and tidied. Phew~~ We did more shopping at night – this time electrical goods and yes!! I also got my new phone and a SG number lor. Now I feel ‘local’. Others like StarHub packages, Broadband, house phone all signed up as well. That’s how efficient my hubs can be.
By the time we got gome it was almost 9.30pm. Ryan had a quick shower and was in bed by 10pm after a short skype session with YehYeh & MaMa. He didn’t manage to stay up for a session with nanny. Imagine how tired he was.

You Turned 16 Months Today
I have been on blog hiatus for the longest period since I started blogging. Excuse is I’ve been caught up with work and also the whole relocation prep. But today it is special indeed as today Ryan turned 16 months. So, I really want to blog something.
A recap what happened over the last one week plus:
1) Attended the mega blogger meet at Marmalade last Saturday. I was caught up with the mover in the morning and reached there almost an hour late. So sorry. Barbara (she did a super fantastic job as organiser.. next time we know who to nominate when it comes to gathering heh) initiated the gathering in conjunction with Julian’s visit to KL and also my farewell. I’m really sorry about my late arrival. Really really paiseh and thousand apologies.
Ryan and cutie Jayden
All worn out after the gathering
2) The mover company sent 5 staff over to pack and upload our stuff to the lorry. A total of 33 boxes and that will cost hub’s future employer a sum of USDxxxx. Blehh…
Look at the mess in our room itself (there were more mess outside the room)
My FIL cum ’supervisor’ in the background
4) When we got home from the salon, Ryan was quickly whisked for shower. I did not use the tub as it was intended to be a quickie. He had so much fun enjoying his new found toy (the shower spray) that he refused to come out when we were all done. As it was getting late (with mummy all tired) I scooped him up after wrapping him with towel. The next 10 mins was a ghastly experience. Ryan was so out of control and inconsolable. He was holding on tight to the shower door refusing to let go (he must have got super power strength at that time), wailing and screaming his lungs out. He doesn’t want his yogurt, he refused his apple. He wanted nothing but shower shower. I have not seen Ryan so upset before. Poor baby. In the end, after much pacifying, it was ‘Baby Bright’ that came to rescue. Phew…
Poor baby. Eating his apple while watching Baby Bright here.
5) Ryan vomited once this morning and his body is a little warm today (37.3C) I hope he will be well and will not fall sick. If he does, I will have Daddy to blame and I will be very very very unhappy. Daddy is down with sore throat again (yes AGAIN) and despite my numerous reminders, he kept kissing his beloved son. Arrgghh…
6) Oh.. today Daddy sold off his first wife (Ms Alfa). Kekekeke.. so today I naik pangkat to become his one and only wife. Heehee…
7) Ryan is 16 months today. I don’t think I can do a complete milestone this time. It is getting more and more difficult….. Anyways, at the back of my mind these are some notable development:
- Ryan calls us B. (I think he picked that up from the parents. Blehhh)
- Lately he likes to stick his tongue out
- Called ‘mommy’ (only once… sigh.. ) Other times either Mi or B.
- He will pat-pat his chest when he’s scared (example, when he sees the lizard, he’ll pat- pat his chest)
- Ryan is now able to digest and comprehend the language we speak around the house. He is also able to understand simple bed time stories. Example: Must admit, mommy’s bed time stories mostly comprise of all no head no tail story line (the lights were off and there’s no book to refer ma so mommy would have to make up all the characters and story line all at same time). The stories were all half past six but good enough to cheer my little kulingchingkwai up. Usually I’ll ask “Ryan, do you want to listen to stories?” Ryan [nod, nod, nod]. As I narrate the story, Ryan would giggle and giggle.. and would easily fall asleep after I sing him a few lullabies (part of the story)
I like the feeling that my stories are appreciated la..
- Likes to kick the blanket away at night
- Ryan would do the ‘Shhh’ sign when he doesn’t want you to speak about the things he has done.
‘SShhh… please don’t tell Daddy’
I asked nanny to help take some pictures of Ryan during the day.. here goes. The pics were not clear but the fun he had was evident…

Tag: My Biggest Fear
Kiasumum and Judy sent me this tag. Paiseh.. I may be big in size but am actually quite a scary cat. I’m afraid of many things such as creepy creatures like lizards or worms alike, flying creatures like moth, big birds, even insects, cockroaches.. daa daa daa… the list is never ending. However…… there’s one thing that I am afraid the most. It send shivers down my spine each time I see it. There was one time I actually threw away my spoon and chopsticks out of shock with tears rolling down my cheek upon seeing “them” on my bowl of soup. What is it??? Scroll down (not for those weak hearted ya)…

Oki Oki.. a bit exaggerated. They never served octopus on a bowl of soup but smaller sotong they do. The fear I had on them is as bad. The ‘arms’, ‘tentakels’, the ’suction cups’ whatever whatever you call it… THEY ARE SCARY!!! Yeaks!! *pengsan liow*
Hmm.. think I will spare the tag baton this round.

Home Sweet Home Again~~~
We were in Singapore again over the weekend to finalise the lease agreement. Finally we got the keys to our unit and what initially appear a distant away now seems to be more real. I’m pretty excited and looking forward to the new change. I am really not sure if I can cope with all the changes but thankfully I have Ryan to keep me positive and motivated. It’s all for my baby.
Fascinated by the aeroplane while in the boarding hall
Ryan fell off the bed on the night before we left for Singapore (3 Aug). Speaking of how much I hate my bed frame design..arrghhh!! it’s evident! Poor baby…
A short clip of how Ryan occupied himself in the hotel room…Mid way, he even let out a cheeky grin.
Here goes my ‘Mighty Baby in Action’.

Sleep Deprivation
@ 15 months 2 weeks 2 days
Ryan is better, temp has gone down (below 37.5c) though his appetite is still pretty poor gauging by his standard. I think he lost huge amount of weight. Suddenly I could carry him for much longer time now
He is back to his normal self (ball, ball, ball everyday). Come to think of it, even when he was down with high fever he was still very much into streneous activities, romping here and there.
Initially when nanny told me Ryan took his medicine willingly, I really doubted cos from past experience and the last few days’ med feedings, Ryan wailed pitifully with big big tears every single dose we fed him. Yesterday nanny did the magic in front of me. True enough. Ryan gulped down the Augmentin antibiotics, infact not one but two teaspoons (4ml, nanny splited into two feedings) without a single whine. I was astounded. My son surely knows who to bully. *grin*
Last night marked the 4th night since we had any good sleep due to Ryan’s unexplained tossing and whining during the night.
Eerrr.. How come I don’t remember getting any sleep at all???
Yeah.. it’s that bad. I pray for a better night tonight.
Wish us luck~~~
*Zombie face
***** on a separate note, whenever Ryan sees my hairband laying around, he’ll pick it up and put it on top of my head. Last week I asked
Mommy: Ryan, do you want to wear mommy’s hairband?
Ryan: (nod, nod, nod)
Mommy: (knowing he’ll get overreacted for anything that goes on top of his head, I asked again) Are you sure you want to wear mommy’s hairband?
Ryan: (nod, nod, nod)
Ok la… here goes the cheeky boy: (22 Jul 07)
Updated 7 Aug: That night Ryan finally slept thru the night. Daddy and Mommy finally got some decent sleep but speaking of phobia, we were so paranoid even with Ryan’s slightest whim afraid it’s gonna be another long night. Phew~~~
