Blog Status Update

Eversince I jumped on the PPP-wagon, I’ve become more concious of my blog ranks from various sources. Sigh… but with a PR0, it’s really nothing muh opportunities for me to grab.

But… but…. guess what…

I’ve just checked my blog status just now after getting a message from her about the latest google PR update and that one of her friend’s blog has just been upgraded to PR4 from PR0. So, me also ‘mm chap sue’, fast fast clicked on new browser and goo-checked.

This is my latest blog ranks:

PR : From 0 to 4
Alexa : From 5 mill to 2.5 mill
Technorati : From 3 mill to 35,000

I would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your support in my blog, for your patience and interest in reading about my little Ryan, etcetera, etcetera…. Muaksss… Thank tiy very much,

Pst .. pst.. can do more PPP lor. Heehee.. kidding. This blog is still very much focussed on my little mischievous baby…until further advised. *wink*

Thanks again all~~

Update: Err… I just realised something… my blog has two PR ranks. I have always used www.baby-ryanlim.blogspot.com and it came out as PR4; but then I realised if I use http://baby-ryanlim.blogspot.com it’s actually PR3. Hmm… so strange keh? (Psst..psstt..thank goodness .. PPP updated mine as PR4 already.. yoohooooo)

An Encounter with Swollen Gland

@ 1 year 1 week 4 days

I got the shock my life on Wednesday when nanny told me there’s a lump in Ryan’s neck. I quickly examined and yes.. sh*t!! Indeed there’s a small lump the size of pea just right below his left ear under his jaw line. I almost went bonkerz. I quickly called hubs summoned him to come home NOW! I started to “think east, think west” (speculate). It doesn’t helped that paed is closed on Wednesdays. So the earliest I could drop in is the next morning.

Ryan was down with a slight fever the day before (38C). So, hubs was pretty sure the lump was merely an enlarged lymph node against the infection. I just wasn’t convinced and certainly do not want to take things for granted. Better be safe than sorry. So, I insisted it is a MUST to go see the paed first thing tomorrow morning. NO OTHER OPTION! Blehh.. *very fierce already*

Reached paed’s office at 8.30am. Ryan was #5 on queue but the first patient to go in cos the rest had gone for breakfast. Heehee.. Anyways, as soon as we walked in, Ryan behaved strangely. He showed an obvious gesture he wasn’t comfortable in the paed’s room. And as soon as the stethoscope landed on his tummy, my poor baby wailed like there’s no tomorrow. Anyways, after a thorough check., paed confirmed the lump is indeed a swollen gland caused by the body’s immune defense against the bug. Instantly I gave a sigh of RELIEF!
Hubs was busy comforting the crying baby when I heard paed uttered the word ‘BUT’….. Huh?? But what????? According to paed, the gland will subside after the antibiotics (3ml Zithromax once a day for 3 days) . However, do not expect an overnight recovery as typically it will take up to 2 weeks for it to go back to its normal size. Aiks.. I seriously thought after medication, *gau dim* (settle) lor.. Paed advised us to continue monitor Ryan’s swollen gland. Importantly is to make sure no multiplication or enlargement to the lump. Pheww~~~
No fever, no cold symptoms, nothing, Ryan is all a-okay. Now we just have to complete his course of antibiotics and hope the swollen gland will reduce to its normal size soon.

Again, hubs said I worried too much. But who wouldn’t right….

Reaction to an Unknown Allergy

I woke up Sunday morning with a bad patch of rashes on my neck. It got really bad that I had gone on medical leave yesterday. The itch was simply killing. After medication and hydrocortisone cream (Hmmm.. I’m so familiar with the word hydrocortisone now.. *blehhh*) the redness and itch sort of ease a bit. *Phewww…*

Till now I cant figured out what went wrong nor the cause that triggers it. But just because of this bad episode, Ryan’s infantile eczema is now conveniently linked to mummy’s bad gene. Wah-Wah-Wah… (mummy also want to cry now).

Want to see how bad the rashes were? *wink-wink*

*Warning: Not for those ill hearted

Daddy’s Little Boy

@ 1 year 6 days

Ryan’s sleeping pattern has changed a little. He’s no longer taking his evening nap but yet he doesn’t sleep until it’s 10.00pm. I actually believe he’s now wise enough to realise his Daddy’s schedule and refuses to bed until his beloved Daddy is home to kiss him goodnight. And if you think that’s coincidence, this little monster actually would wake up around 6am ish every morning (the time hubs wakes up for work everyday), giggle giggle with his Daddy and will go back to Zzz-land after Daddy leaves for work. Strange or not??? What a Daddy’s boy.. *jealous mummy gives a grin and evil eyes here**
**********
We have also changed Ryan’s milk to Isomil Plus Advance for 1 year and above. I was a little sceptical at first whether or not I should continue with soy based formula, afterall Ryan seems to have recovered from his baby days infantial eczema. But after reassurance from paed, we decided to stick back to it. Really don’t wish to go through another process of trial and error with milk powder.

I have recently introduced multigrain breakfast into Ryan’s breakfast regime. Kinda to give him more varieties rather than just cereal. Also now that Ryan is a toddler and more active, I would want him to develop a healthy eating schedule like us with strictly solid for breakfast, lunch and dinner; and of course his usual yoghut, teething biscuits, juices, fruits etc as snacks and desserts in between. I’m actually considering to let Ryan have his dinner at home instead of nanny’s. I can’t force nanny for the extra work to cook dinner for Ryan and if I insist dinner at nanny’s place, I have the feeling Ryan’s gonna end up eating the same type of food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Hmm… Really don’t know what is the common practise. For us, of course we don’t eat the same food 3 times a day but maybe for babies they don’t mind?? *scratch head*

Wakey Wakey Mummy!!!!

@ 1 year 3 days

I find it a bit strange to start off the post with the word 1 year (@ 1 year 3 days). Not quite used to it and kinda unbelievable that my baby is now 1 year old already!!! Arrgghh.. I know I know.. So, the post title above speaks it all, WAKE UP WAKE UP MUMMY~~. Kekeke…

Anyways, allow me to do this last one plus another one year milestone. K? *Blehhh*

When Ryan was younger (ard 3 months+++) he was so chubby then that he falls under the 90 percentile babies. However when Ryan started to crawl, his weight came to be more managable and his growth is now back to the average 75 percentile. The last time his length and weight was taken was last Sunday. He stood at 80cm and 10.2kg. Still quite a handful. Phew~~

Anyways, a snapshot of Ryan’s journey in the last 12 months….

I am married with a baby

I bumped into an old friend with her colleagues during lunch earlier. She called my name out loud (mind you, she called my chinese name leh…I have a very ‘mo koon toong’ chinese name ie name that will give you goose pimples) We exchanged a few bla bla bla…and after exchanging phone numbers we we bid each other goodbye. Afterall, both were on our way for lunch so better not let our stomach suffer that long.

Then just now she called me again. She said one of her colleagues had asked her for my number. My gosh!! As much as I am flattered (so auntie already still got ppl asked for my number), I told her I am not only married but with a one year old toddler lor my dear….

Hahaha.. then she asked how come never invited her to my wedding. *Blehhhh*. So, I shared with her this link and this link (this link’s music – I finally found someone is gone already.. sob sob)

Mummy during the good old dayssss~~

Enjoy~~~

Tag: Why I Married My Other Half

I was online with Malaika’s Mummy and she reminded me about the tag that I owe on the subject ‘Why I Married My Other Half’ – tagged by Allyfeel and Judy it is not that I forgot, I just can’t think of 10 good reasons to put in.. Don’t get me wrong. I love my hubs to pieces but to sum up in 10 reasons is tough la, especially true if you’re like us, dated for more than a decade before tying the knot.

Anyways, Malaika Mummy (being my uni-mate, housemate cum good friend), she helped me sum them up based on her observation.. Check it out.

(MM- Malaika Mummy; Etcetera Mummy)

Reason 1
MM: Because he has no. 1 brain.
EM: Heehee.. he is always my No. 1 for sure

Reason 2
MM: Persistent in going after pretty girl
EM: Erm, that one I don’t know la…

Reason 3
MM: Know how to ‘shower’ you with gifts
EM: You know what they say about men who likes to buy gifts for their wife? *roll eyes*

Reason 4
MM: He remembers all the important days – birthday, anniversaries, valentine, etc..
EM: With hints from me of course…

Reason 5
MM: Always remember special celebration day with thoughtful gifts
EM: *blushed* Yeah.. so far his memory never failed him.. else.. his wife will make him remember what he forgot for the rest of his life. :P

Reason 6
MM: Know how to ‘lam’ you with sweet talk
EM: Got meh..

Reason 7
MM: Came to see you in Birmingham almost every week when he was in Oxford
EM: We took turns.…

Reason 8
MM: Talked for hours on the phone when you two were in UK
EM: Yeah, we spoke on the phone every day when we were dating. Never missed. :D

Reason 9:
MM: He ‘booked’ you for many years
EM: Well, yeah… Hubs and I started dating more than a decade ago. So we have been through a lot together all these years. It reaches a stage that I was very sure he’s the man in my life. Ahem~~

Reason 10: Because of a song hubs sang to me… very ‘lum’ :P

Since Malaika Mummy had been so helpful. I’ll like to thank her by tagging her. Kekekeke.. help her build backlinks and increase PR..

Countdown to No. 1

@ 11 months 4 weeks 2 days

This is my last post on Ryan’s baby stories. In half an hour’s time, Ryan would be one and an official toddler. No more a baby. I have said this umpteen times but isn’t it true that when we recollect our thoughts on the whole delivery process, it is just as if it just happened yesterday? Read more here.

We brought Ryan for his scheduled MMR jab this morning. As soon as I sat down, I told paed about Ryan’s eye. After a thorough examination, paed assured us the cut was right at the corner. His eyeball, nerves etc etc inside are all okay. Phew~~ What a big big relief!! Otherwise I think I will not be able to forgive myself.. AND HUBS!!

Ryan cried as soon as we laid him on the bed for his jab. Think he has a phobia of the paed. I can tell from the little rascal’s expression that he was very nervous throughout the whole process. He just held tight on mummy all the time. Aiyoh… my son is so ‘kiasi’ now.

Thought will be good to share this info. During this visit I took the opportunity to find out from paed on Ryan’s recent fever episode. Explained all the post fever symptoms like rashes to paed. He confirmed it was Roseola, another virus that causes fever. Roseola, according to paed was likely infected through air and more easily contagious between baby to baby (6 months – 3 years). There is no medication for Roseola. It is a viral infection that causes sudden and unexplained hi fever, swollen eyes and post fever rashes. So, if your baby is suffering from hi fever, with no other cold symptoms like flu, cough etc, chances are it could be Roseola. At which besides taking medication (Paracetemol / Nurofen) to control the temp, we just have to be patient, allow time for the viral to run its course.

Second thing to share with all is on stye (ngan thiu chum). Ryan is having one now. Aiks.. Luckily not obvious. Paed prescribed an eye cream (Fucithalmic) to apply. He also stressed on the importance of cleaning baby’s hands cos more than often the stye was caused by dirt that got transferred from baby’s hand to their eyes. Thus, the eye infection. I seriously didn’t know that. I always thought it was due to heaty (yit hei). Now I know……*slap head*

Tonight Ryan slept on his own again. I really want to make it a habit. I cannot be patting him to sleep every night. Big boy liow lor. Knowing Daddy’s existence will only cause interruption to my modus operandi, I shoo-ed Daddy to the next room. I passed Ryan his milk as usual after which I just laid still on bed pretended to be asleep too. At one point he was seen rolling, climbing on top of me, knocking his head on mine, etc etc to gain attention. I just ignored him. After like 30 mins he fell asleep. Kekeke.. tomorrow have to repeat the process again. Wish me luck.

Mummy and little Ryan with his newfound play gears (the cutleries) – I didnt know this restaurant provides children cuttleries. They comes in pink, blue, yellow and I think green as well. So cute…

Ryan’s first forward facing car ride

Hello… I am turning one tomorrow
