Ryan’s Independent Steps

@ 11 months 2 weeks 2 days

Ryan has been practising his walking skills all the time. I was really worried when he took his first few wobbly steps but CEO assured me we should let our baby go through the normal learning / development process and parents cannot be over protective of their child. We may think we’re helping our child but actual fact we’re hindering their growing process. I guess she is right. So, here goes.. a short clip of Ryan’s independent steps…

Ryan was seen on the clip here walking towards his fav ball, picked it up and walked back towards Daddy who was hiding at the corner.

Well done Ryan!!! Daddy and Mummy are very proud of you…

Ryan’s first pair of walking shoes

I bought Ryan’s first pair of shoes the other day. But guess what.. instead of being excited, our little monster is scared of them. Adoi~~~, my little monster is not so monster afterall.

Mummy’s Birthday Celebration~~~

@ 11 months 2 weeks 1 day

Yeah.. mummy’s birthday falls on the 30 Mac. Thanks to everyone who sent me greetings and wishes.

Many have also asked how I celebrated the special day; being mummy’s first birthday celebration with my little Ryan.. Let me share with you.. Here goes:

6.30am : Woke up
7.00am : Departed for Melaka for my company’s regional meeting
9.00am : Reached Equatorial Hotel, Melaka
5.00pm : Departed from Melaka. The meeting was still on-going. HR Manager was giving his presentation. He had like 60 slides and when I left, he probably have like 50 more slides to go. I decided to make a quiet move (informed my immediate bosses of course) as I was really hoping to rush back for at least a dinner with my beloved.

Guess.. what time I got home??

8.00pm

It costed me 3 precious hours for me to get back from Melaka (typically 1.5 hrs). Why? Why? Why? Thanks to the heavy cats and dogs rain, the long bumper to bumper drive, the nosy drivers who slowed down to kepoh an accident on the opposite direction. If that was not bad enough, my car almost ran out of petrol along the way back. When the indicator came on, I knew I have to refuel but I wasn’t too worried at first assuming there should be a kiosk not too far away. Little did I expect, there was no single one for almost 30km distant. I have not felt so worried and shaky in my life. I blamed myself for taking things for granted. I should have refueled in Melaka before I started my journey home. Of course it doesn’t helped the fact I need to go *shue-shue* (washroom) too!!!

I was ready to turn in at the next exit in hope there will be one kiosk at the toll area. Then suddenly I saw the rest area sign. I pierced through the heavy rain to see if there is a kiosk signage. BRAVO!!! Yes yes… there’ll be a kiosk in the next rest area (which was like 5km away). That was the longest and horrifying 5km drive in my life….

If that was not bad enough, towards home I made a wrong exit (Turned in at Kajang instead of Serdang). There goes another 1 hour on the road.. See la.. how bad luck I was on my birthday!!!

Anyways, hubs suggested we could still go for midnight movie but I was just too tired after all the drama, I certainly don’t wish to see another…. I just want to spend some quality time with Ryan with the limited hours that’s left on my birthday!!!

Genting Revisited

@ 11 months 1 week 4 days

We went for a short trip up the hill again, compliment 1 night hotel stay from “C-bank”. This time we stayed at the First World Hotel. Knowing how pathetic the rooms are, I was hoping they would allow us to upgrade the room to at least Super Deluxe or Worldcard Deluxe whatever whatever… but guess what, C-bank instructed NO UPGRADE. Hmmm… No upgrade even I’m willing to pay for it? How ‘stewpid’.

Generally the overall stay was so so.. not too good and not too bad. At least the room was clean but what cheeses me off was when I called the housekeeping for a kettle, their response was like this..

Me: Hi, I would like to request for a kettle
X: No Madam. We cannot provide you with a kettle
Me: What do you mean you cannot provide me with a kettle? You don’t have or you cannot provide?
X: We cannot provide kettle to deluxe room guest.
Me: (Super frust already) Then how am I supposed to get boiling water
X: Our tap water is clean and safe for drinking. You can also go out of the room to the hall, there is a general water tap with hot and cold water provided.
Me: (SLAMMED DOWN THE PHONE)

Arrghh… it’s just a kettle for gawd sake.

See Ryan’s pic below.. His expression speaks it all….

(i’m so bored and sleepy… ) Heehee…poor baby

Tagged Again ~~

Ooh.. finally feel the pinch of being tagged. I have 3 overdue tags to do (2 of the same one luckily)…

Okay okay… must complete my homework by today.

First tag, the logest overdue was from Jessie and Angeleyes.

5 Wishes of the Year
1) I wish everyone in my family strong and healthy
2) I wish to have more ME time
3) I wish to have a new camera (DSLR)
4) I wish to go for a long deserving vacation
5) I wish I can have more wishes (wishes that can come true la…Heehee…)

Angeleyes said I should have a longer list.. yeah.. paiseh.. I have.. but shy to list all out. So, hopefully my No. 5 wish can come true so my other other wishes will materialise as well .. :P

********************
Back to 80s Tag

This one soooo tricky. It’s like indirectly telling people how old we are…

Here’s how the meme works:
Go to PopCulture site. Pick the year you turn 18 years old. Get yourself nostalgic over the songs that year. Write something about how those songs afffected you. Pass it on to five more friends.

1. Hero – Mariah Carey
My all time favourite.

2. A Whole New World – Peabo Bryson * Regina Belle
Got to know about the song from the Disney movie ‘Aladdin’.

3. All That She Wants – Ace of Base
Arrgh.. I dont personally like this song but who would have missed that ‘chorus’ when you heard it on the radio again and again and again..

4. Have I Told You Lately – Rod Stewart
Hmm…saja one of the songs I know from the long list.

5. Dreamlover – Mariah Carey
Also, one of the songs I listened to then.. no special nostalgic association in my life.. :P

— Wont be tagging anyone. **Blehhh**.. :P

Ryan’s Daring Wobbly Steps

@ 11 months 1 week
I thought this pic is really cute so I’ll dedicate a post for my own remembrance la. Ryan was seen in this pic here taking his usual wobbly steps with one hand holding his fav ball.
I find Ryan extremely ‘kan cheong’ (impatient). His steps were usually wide and fast.. And as if maintaining stability empty handed was not hard enough, he likes to keep one/both his hands busy with something – his fav balls most of the time (football and the basketball).

Ryan… Ryan… how long more it would take before you’re able to walk steadily???

Sleep Problem Surfaced

@ 11 months 1 week

They say sleep problems may potentially crops up when the baby is reaching his/her first birthday. I think it is horrifyingly true for Ryan and what puzzles us is that why it always happens at about the same time every night between 4am – 6am when sleep is such a treasure for us.

Last night (this morning) was no difference. Ryan slept at about 10.30pm last night. At 2.45am, he was already tossing around. Sensing it could be his sign out of hunger, I made milk, fed him and he was back to Zzzz-land. Phew… The end??

Of course NO-NO-NO. Ryan woke up again at 4.15am. No way he was hungry. He gulped in 7oz of milk just 1.5 hours ago. Anyways.. out of desperation for more sleep I made him extra milk and another 2oz of milk went in his tummy. His eyes were already wide and bright by then.. demanding play time. Arrgghh…”Gau Meng Ar” (Help!!!)

At 5.15am, Ryan finally showed signs of sleepiness (rubbing his eyes and staring stoned face at the ceiling downlights). Then while patting him, I counted 1-10 (repeatedly), After a short repitition, Ryan went back to ZZzz land.. But just right after I dozed off (feels like nanoseconds ago only), Ryan woke up again (10 mins after I dozed off in actual) and again, Ryan was all excited, wanted to get out of bed for more play time… “Gau Gau Meng Ar” (Help! Help!)

So, no choice.. After like 15 mins of silly games, he was again showing sign of sleepiness and I patted him to sleep.. But after another 10 mins, he woke up again. Arrggh…. I seriously lost my patient. What is wrong with him??????? Hubs got up wanted to take over but knowing there’s no way he could cheat Ryan to bed I asked him to stay away! (Frus already!!!).

Why dont need Daddy’s help? See.. Ryan is an obvious Daddy’s boy. When he sees Daddy, he sees the word “PLAY”.. stick to Daddy like a magnet. Anyways, the whole routine above (sleep, wake up, play, sleep, wake up, play..) goes on and on until 6.00am!!!

Just when I thought I could get more sleep, my alarm went off. Time to get up for work. Literally have to drag myself out of bed. As soon as I got up from bed, guess what.. Ryan turned his body, looked at mummy, sat up straight away and again, wants more play time….

I was actually a bit irritated (I know it is not his fault, as it could be teething, separation anxiety what not what not.. but also feel a bit geram la…) I only slept for like what 4 hours in total??? But when I saw this cute little face this morning, aaah.. my heart melts again..

Association of the word ‘Mum-Mum’ with Food

@ 11 months 4 days

Ryan is now able to associate the word ‘Mum-Mum’ with food. When he’s hungry (usually ard his feeding time) he’ll say ‘Mum-Mum’. Eg, Yesterday evening while being carried by Yeh-Yeh, Ryan mumbled ‘Mum-Mum’ repeatedly. Since I came home late, I was not aware what time was his last feed (I usually ask MIL but this evening somehow MIL forgot to tell me and I forgot to ask).. later after verifying, we realised Ryan could be hungry as it had been 3.5 hours since his last feed. Aah.. mummy was so blur *slap head*. Siding that at possible coincidence.. later at night hubs was busy bonding with Ryan. Carrying him all around the house. Suddenly when Ryan saw some grapes in a bowl, he mumbled ‘Mum-Mum’ again. Hmm.. can it be sooooooooo coincidence???

*This morning Nanny told me Ryan would get very excited when she opens the fridge. Then he’ll say ‘Mum-Mum’. Hahaha.. so funny. Ryan is such a ‘wai sek meow’ (likes to eat)

*****
Ryan cried for the first time when I left him for work yesterday morning. I was a little taken by surprise as it has never happened before. When I saw his tears my heart sank. I used to envy parents whose baby cry out for them when they left the baby for work. However, when I saw Ryan with tears I despise myself having such thought at the first place. I do not wish to see Ryan with tears anymore.. My heart has never felt so heavy when I jumped in the car this morning.

This morning he cried again…. Poor baby…

*****
Ryan has been tossing and turning on bed almost every night now during the wee wee hours. It has been so many nights that hubs and I have gotten used to it.. frankly. That said, if that continues, sooner or later hubs or I will risk the possibility of being *fried* (fired). Certainly none of us is looking forward to becoming a STAP (Stay at home Parent). I am assuming Ryan’s wee hour *stunts* is short term and a mere phase of bad teething syndrome. I hope I am right. He has been drooling quite badly. Oh and as if that is not bad enough, Ryan now knows how to *play* with his saliva. He will stick his tongue out, with saliva all over and start *bleh, bleh, bleh* (minus the sound) end up with the saliva dripping all over his top!! Sometimes if we’re **lucky**, we gets to see his saliva with all the small bubbles too. Yeaks!!! Then when we warned him “NO RYAN!!”, he again gave you his usual flirty cheeky smile and does that all over again. Eeshhh….!!! Smelly Little Monster!!!

*****
Apart from his daring wobby steps, Ryan now develops a new liking. He will sit on the floor, use his two hands to slide his butt forward and backward (backward most of the time). If sitting position is too tiring.. he will lay flat on his tummy and do the same sliding stunts.. you know like those soldiers in battlefield. Hmm…

*****
I have been using the Pigeon toothbrush on Ryan for a while now. Usually Ryan would knowingly opens his mouth when I bring the brush near. Last Sunday, he decided to be different. See below… decided to get his hands on the brush instead. (guess must be due to teething again….)

11 Month Milestones

@ 11 months

Ryan is now a 11 month *old* baby.. in a month’s time he’ll graduate to become a toddler. Everyone is asking me how am I gonna celebrate the occassion. I seriously don’t know….

At 11 months…
Ryan still has 8 teeth, ??cm (unsure) and 10.1kg. His molar should be shying out anytime..(in view of his evident teething synptoms)

Emotions & Character
* Ryan rarely take things offered to him by strangers.
* Ryan always has this burst of energy during sleep time. Getting him to sleep at night is twice the effort compared to the day.
* Still the usual smiley cheeky baby
* Begin to have fear (shows an evident fear of a plastic ball he has)
* Sleep pattern. Still sings Ryan lullabies. Drinks about 10-12oz of milk just before bed time; split into two rounds. Usually after the first 6 oz of milk, he’ll stop, play for 10 mins and gulp in another 6oz of milk. The pattern continues until he is full and tired for sleep. So, sometimes he drink like 15oz of milk for the last milk feed.
* No longer clears his throat before milk (‘Oek’ – puke sound)
* Shows an evident preference for Daddy

Language & Speech
* Still full of his baby language. Most times we would just guess what he was babbling about except commons words like mum-mum, mama, dada…
* Ryan is able to understand and respond to simple words like sleep, come, sit, where’s the TV (he’ll turn to the TV), where’s the light (will look up), swicth off the lights (will hit the switch), Daddy, MaMa, YehYeh, Mummy, Linda, No, Kiss-Kiss
* Today, I said this to Ryan “Ryan, go take the ball and pass to Mummy”, after a few repetition, he crawled to the ball, grip it using his hand and throw to Mummy. Coincidence or what I don’t know…

Dexterity
* Able to stand without support
* Able to take 4-5 wobbly steps at a time
* Able to stack the colorful rings stacker
* Good handling of pincer grasp
* Likes to use his index finger to point to objects
* Able to do ‘GongXi-GongXi’, clap his hands, hi / bye
* Able to grip his fav ball (basketball) using just one hand
* Able to crawl really well and fast
* Able to indicate what he wants through gestures (he will flung forward when he wants to go to the direction he wants, will point to the thing he likes, will peep the direction he wants you to look at eg when the ball is under chair, he’ll peep at under the chair, peep at you, back to the chair, then you again until we help him remove the ball from under the chair..)
* Able to sound out his dislikes (will MoooMooo.. pitifully)
* Can kneel upright position
* Able to squat from standing position and back up again
* Sometimes he’ll show his manja side, crawl up to us (Mummy/Daddy), lay flat on our chest/tummy and give us a big hug then smile… so cute!!!

Interest
* Ryan likes to flip the pages of the books we bought him and will laugh when we read out the words to him. Though his attention span is limited, I’ll always continue to read them loud knowing he could be unconsciously listening.
* Loves to watch Baby Bright 2 (will laugh / clap his hands along)
* Loves to play with his 2 fav balls – basket and football (he’ll raise his hand, ball slightly above eye level, twist his wrist and throw the ball)
* Likes to throw his toys to the side of his car seat (the hole between the seat and the car door)
* Dislike having anything on his head (cap, towel etc)
* Ryan is now able to play with most of his toys the correct way
* Likes to sit Japanese style

Diet
* Using Avent Teat No 4
* Milk in the morning
* Solid for lunch (porridge varities include a mixture of cauliflower, potato, carrot, brocolli, spinach, oats, cereal with fruits)
* Milk in the afternoon and night
* Tea (Yoghurt, Ribena, Baby Biscuits)
* Evening Fruits (Pureed Apple, Avocado, Mango)

Routine

Weekday
* Wakes up around 7.45am (to auntie’s place)
* PIL will pick Ryan home around 6pm
* Naps at 7.00pm to approx 8pm
* Mummy home by 8pm* Daddy home by 10.30pm (very late lately)
* Sleep time at 11.30pm (bcos daddy wants to play with Ryan)

Weekend
* Wakes up around 7.45am
* About 1.5 to 2 hours nap at 11.00am
* Next nap at around 4.00pm (1 – 1.5 hours average)
* Next afternoon nap around 7pm (max 1 hour. Will wake him up at 8pm)
* Sleep time at 12mn

If Ryan misses the evening 7pm nap, he’ll go to bed around 9.30pm (very seldom though).. On average Ryan could stay awake between 5-6 hours at night. So, if he wakes up at 5.30pm, he’ll sleep at around 10.30pm

Tagged Again!!!

I have been tagged twice on the same meme.. Nadia and Amah. Sorry ya.. this reply came a little late. The weird thing is, I don’t even know what is weird about me… *scratch head* (can that count as one? Heehee..)

Anyway, here goes the list. 6 Weird Things About Me.
Hmm.. come to think of it, don’t think they are that weird, just something ahem.. *special* about me.. :D

1) I have a fav cloth (baju with no buttons though… dropped off one by one over the years). Anyways, it is a special cloth to me. I am so in love with my cloth that I can’t sleep without it every night. Every now and then, I’ll rub my fingers against the edge of the collar, I’ll use the edge to tickle my eyes, my cheek, my palm etc… After I tickle, the spot will itch right? That’s when I’ll use my hand to scratch it… Feels good leh.. :D

2) I have a phobia of octopus. I’ll scream when confronted with the lubang-lubang (holes) tentakels. I find them very ugly, disgusting and most of all horrifying.

3) I think I have restless leg symdrome. I cannot lay on bed, sit on chair for too long without moving my legs. Even as I am typing this, I have to move my toes up and down, up and down, switch position of how I crossed my leg, bend my knees, etc etc… Importantly is to keep moving them. :p

4) I am very picky when it comes to vegetable. I don’t eat vege that comes with another food. Ie. Say we order meat and the meat actually comes with some vege. I will not eat the vege but if the same vege is cooked on its own ( a dish by itself) I will wallop all of it no problem. Why why?? Hmm.. I have this unconcious thinking that side dish vege is not as fresh as vege that is presented by itself. Siow~~

5) Like Nadia, I also like to pay attention to car plate numbers. However, my interest is not so much in the kick of adding the numbers up but the meaning behind these numbers. Ie whether the numbers are lucky numbers, similar numbers, cute numbers, bad numbers, hampsap numbers, etc etc etc…

6) I am quite a TV junkie. I just love to watch the TV – any movies, series, shows, cartoons, anything is fine with me. When I was in England, one of things I bought on the first day I arrived there was a TV. Even when I was studying, I’ll have to turn on the TV, muted it and leave it on until I’m done with the late night revision. :P
