Our Baby Holds His Own Bottle

@ 8 months 1 week 6 days

It never crossed my mind to prop a bottle to Ryan to test his fine motor skills in holding his own bottle until I saw him doing it at auntie’s place. Auntie then confirmed it has been a while already. Sigh.. this mummy still blur-blur. It was after then I recalled Ryan actually started holding his own bottle when he was barely 2 months old.. well not exactly holding though cos his hands were not strong enough then so he was more like touching with both his hands and ever since frankly I kinda assumed it’ll happen naturally ‘one day’ rather any initiation from me.. But come to think of it, kinda silly la. If I don’t prop it, how would I know that ‘one day’ has already arrived? Another sign my baby has grown…

After the discovery at auntie’s place, nowadays I will let Ryan hold his own bottle be it for milk or water. Often he would just let go and kinda still expecting mummy’s extra hand.. not anymore baby. You have to learn to do it without mummy’s help.. but at times he would surprise us with a show of his little stunt by holding the bottle single handedly.

Ps: Ryan still doesn’t know how to drink from the weaning cup. Must let him practise more…

Bad Hair Day

@ 8 months 1 week 6 days

Ryan’s hair has grown a fair bit and it’s getting a little messy esp near the ear area. So, pandai pandai (smartly) we decided maybe we could attempt to give our baby a quick trim. Smart Daddy suggested we use his shaver which has this trimming feature which we thought it’s a brilliant idea cos our baby won’t risk having a cut knowing he’s such a hyper. So, Daddy picked up the shaver and voila.. our baby had his firt virgin hair trim. This is the outcome….sigh.. big sigh…..poor baby.

Sleeping Thru The Night

@ 8 months 1 week 6 days

I thought it would be good to share this special milestone. For the past #no days (I lost count, but I think more than a week) Ryan has managed to sleep through the night without any feeding. Ryan will usually wake up around 5am for his supper milk time but for the past daysss he managed to go without until he wakes up around 8.30am. To add another feather to my cutie, two days ago he slept at about 10.30pm (last feeding) and only woke up at 9.30am the next day – with no feeding in between. Hahaha.. must have been too tired the day before. Of course Ryan still has the habit of tossing and turning in bed esp if the air-con is not cold enough. Now this is a problem here. Mr Lim can’t stand the cold, Baby Junior Lim sweats easily so this poor mummy is often stucked in between and frankly I actually also lost count the number of times I have to force my eyes to open with barely slit gap in the middle of the night so to adjust the air-con temperature and making sure the two babies are well covered. GGrgghh…

Anyways, back to Ryan’s tossing and turning.. somehow mummy and daddy has grown to be quite ignorant too and would usually try to settle him with a few pats to assure him we’re around. It is also through this we’re hoping he’ll soon learn to understand it is okay to wake up and fall back to sleep on his own without any feeding/excessive stimulation from us. Finger crossed. So far so good. :D

As mummy is typing this out, Ryan is already asleep since 10.30pm. Sweet dreamsss baby. Muaks muaks. I never failed to give Ryan goodnight kiss eventhough my baby is already asleep – a habit I’m trying to instill between our baby and us. Heehee.. just like Mr Lim would always give me a goodnight kiss before he dozes off (missed a few times because he was toooo tired already. Sob sob.. so tired meh Mr Lim? Anyways, forgive you la) and a goodbye kiss before he leaves for work in the morning (this never missed before). Yeakss.. very ‘yok ma’ hor. Heehee… Love my two babies.

Mummy’s Bad Fall

@ 8 months 1 week 6 days

While happily strolling with Ryan along the pathway near my house this morning, suddenly I slipped and fell. Thank goodness somehow I was able to maneuvere my balance and just fell flat on my knees so that my cutie is still safe on my arms. Phew~~~ That was closeeeeeeeeee. Seriously have no recollection what caused me to slip; somemore was a flat pathway.. Fluke shot? Mo Kum Hak kua?? (so bad luck?) . Maybe just merely too fat too clumsy already. Sigh…

Ryan who saw his poor mummy fell was about to start the pitiful cry of his. So I quickly stood up, composed myself, gave him a few assurance pats on his back and distracted him with other things. (Though down my knees were like yelling super painnnnnnnnn). But but, most most importantly my cutie is alright.

Luckily nobody saw the whole episode, else really paiseh!!! :D

Pom-Pom

@ 8 months 1 week 5 days

For the last couple of days I bathed Ryan almost everyday (clear leave) before sending my cutie to auntie’s place in the afternoon. It is also through this day to day bonding, mummy realised my cutie has grown a lot. When my cutie Ryan was younger (not as if very adult now… heehee), mummy used to hold him cradle sytle and bath time would be a breeze, no play time, no water splashing. Today Ryan no longer wants to be hold. When mummy say Pom-Pom, his face lightens up as it signals play time with his little animal friends – duck duck, hippo, octopus etc etc etc…

Check out the pic below, Ryan actually stood up, held on to the railing wanted to get out of the tub. Then when mummy called out his name, he gave this mummy the usual naughty cheeky smile of his. How to not love this cutie leh….:D

Ryan, You Are a Baby Star!!

@ 8 months 1 week 3 days

It has been about a month plus since the shoot was taken and I was really looking forward to the January issue knowing the advertorial will likely be featured in this issue. So, when I went to Mid Valley with my MIL and SIL earlier, the very immediate to-do list is to check out the magazine shop. Yoohoo.. yes yes..it’s finally out on Women’s Weekly Jan 2007 issue; a full page Kleenex tissue advertorial with a proudly half a page picture of Ryan and mummy. I hope Ryan would be proud of himself too one day. Wink wink~~

During the shoot Ryan was pretty behaved and definitely not camera shy (though he was a little cranky due to teething then). Overall, our baby has done a very good job. Well done there baby…

That’s me and baby Ryan above.. and if you’re wondering what’s the orange stuff on his face, that’s carrot pureed from Heinz (specific request fr Kleenex :@)

Note to Ryan: You have been a well behaved baby throughout that hours of shoot. Mummy is proud of you cutie. Muaks Muaks..

Loh Sifu

@ 8 months 1 week 2 days

We seldom bring Ryan along to parties, wedding dinners and what not for the fear Ryan may show his ugly side and start his cranky baby show. So, last night was a good experience but..but.. overall Ryan “IS STILL A CUTIE BABY” la – he’s always always with his shy shy beaming smile. How to not manja (pamper) this cute baby leh??

Speaking of manja. Yesterday, our regular sifu (feng shui master) came to our house for a visit. So, we decided to give Ryan’s birth details to him for a quick ‘analysis’. The first sentence that came from sifu was..”Wow.. this baby.. don’t ever manja him. He is borned with an energy to be liked, pampered, and spoilt….he will also grow up to be a very very intelligent boy, etc etc etc……….but don’t MANJA him”

We found that statement very funny knowing Ryan is extremely pampered; at home; at Popo’s place; at nanny’s place, in fact everywhere he goes. But the funniest thing was MaMa who was also there to listen quickly brushed off by saying.. “Oh, must ask YehYeh not to manja Ryan”. YehYeh alone?? Hmm….:P

Note to Ryan: Ryan, when you read this, ask mummy about the etc etc things that sifu analysed about you ya.

Christmas Party

@ 8 months 1 week 2 days

We went to Mr Lim’s friend Elvin home Christmas party. Well, Elvin is actually the bro of Mr Lim’s ex school mate but over the years our friendship with this cute fella has grown closer than with the bro himself.

We reached there around 9pm as I do not want to interupt Ryan’s nap time (he woke up at 8.00pm). Ryan was as usually hyper but unusually cranky. But who could blame the little cutie, it was very hot there laaa…. Imagine, it hasn’t rained for the past couple of days and it was a BBQ occassion. Really a test of our patient caring this cranky boy.

Nonetheless, Ryan was okay la. He just refused to sit on his stroller, refused to milk, refused to be carried, refused to entertain Daddy/Mummy’s friends.. refused this, refused that… other than that he was ok ma.. yeahhhhhhhhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. :D

This is the only decent picture we managed to shoot. The one behind is Mr Elvin Tham…

Last night we also met with Esther, CK and cutie Ethan. Ethan had a slight fever and still recovering from a small cut on his lips after a fall (ouch!!!). But other than that.. haha.. Esther, you’re right.. he’s still very ACTIVE. Too bad, I wasn’t able to capture any shots of the two hyper kings together… next time next time..

Merry Chritmas Ryan

@ 8 months 1 week 2 days

As I was strolling my time off in one of the shopping centres one day, suddenly it striked me maybe I could get a santa hat for Ryan. Well, not that I am so sure the size would fit but why not, it’s Christmas, just get one for the sake of the occassion wouldn’t hurt right Mr Lim.. Hehehe..

Anyways, I ended up didn’t buy. Why? Why? Because I wasn’t sure if Ryan would like a hat covering his head; knowing he can also be quite a fussy baby. So, what happened was, I came home and decided to try out a little trick with Ryan. Expectedly, he was very against anything on his head. Phew.. luckily mummy didn’t buy, else sure teased by Daddy for wasting money again.

Check it out… (from a very aggitated look to very manja with Daddy)

Note to Ryan: Merry Christmas baby….Love you alwaysssss. Muaks – Muaks

Sweet Dreams Baby

@ 8 months 6 days

It was my company’s annual Xmas dinner last night. This year we had it at Shangri-la, my top favourite hotel. I just love the décor and ambience there and of course each time I’m there, it will kinda rekindle lots of sweet memories (hehehe.. Mr Lim and I had our wedding dinner there).

Nothing much to shout about the dinner, certainly no dressing up for the occasion – yeah… how boring right and adding salt to the wound I DID NOT WIN the grand prize which is a hand phone. Not that I need a hand phone now but who would mind an extra one right? But but.. I did win some shopping vouchers and cash through lucky draw and quizzes. So, there is consolation prize afterall.

From left: Suzie, Me, Lina, Joyce

When I reached home around 11.30pm last night, my baby was already in his dreamland. Ooh… miss you cutie pie.
