Deng, My Office Corrupted!

Deng, deng, deng!!!

I was that mad, angry and upset. For some reason, my computer failed to restart properly the other day. Maybe virus, maybe some buggy software updates, I can’t make out.

It all started when my computer failed to restart properly. I was prompted the Explorer window again and again as soon as it loads, with no desktop, no start up bar, nothing. Black screen with just an Explorer window. Crazy? Not so if you’re using the giant software.

Anyway, after numerous frustrating attempts, I gave up. I backed up some files and reformatted the whole machine. Arrghh…..

When I thought all’s good I realised:

- My office installation CD is corrupted (I hv no Office to use now)
- The inbuilt mic doesn’t work properly
- I lost all my feeders (if you noticed I have not been visiting your blog, please ping me)
- I lost all my favourites
and most most upsetting is I lost my Palm data – all the banking records, contacts, etc.. all wiped out.

So you say I should be frustrated or not…. DENG!!!!!!!

AFTER

It’s the second time I did eyelash perming. First time was in KL which was part and parcel of a facial treatment I did. This time round, it cost me $35 . It still doesn’t give me that barbie doll eyes effect of course but it does save me a lot of hassle from having to use the curler all the time. All I need now is just a simple application of mascara (my fav is transparent) and I’ll be ready to go anytime, anyday, anywhere….. Ngek ngek.

Oh, Barbie doll eyelash is easily achievable through a simple eyelash extension service @ $50-$80 (a bit ex to do it in SG, better do it in MY).

Vain boh? :P

A Gift to Myself~~~

This is something I got for myself this morning from Marks and Spencer. I bought a new pair of leggings some time back but don’t have anything suitable to match. Then I saw this. They say clothing with horizontally lined pattern will make one look slimmer. I certainly hope so…….

Happy Chinese Birthday to me…… Any wild guesses on my actual birthdate?

*smile*

Shattered~~

Few days back my ‘boss’ told me his deal is not launching on the Easter break week; which is this Fri – Sun (yes, the week we were supposed to be in HK). After which he told me, oh.. maybe we can go somewhere that weekend. I was ecstatically in joy of course. I was really looking forward to a breakaway. So quickly checked on the last minute deals I could find on Bintan Island, Avillion, etc if any. I couldn’t find anything. Kinda expected. Hey, it’s one of those rare long weekend holiday in Singapore, most people would have booked earlier for their retreats. Moreover most Malaysians would also indulge themselves in a long weekend break inconjunction with the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday on Thursday.

Barely 24 hours later, I got an sms from boss which says.. “we are not going anywhere. lots of work for the weekend, new deal submission next wed”

Ping plang… dashed….. heart broken… but what to do. Market is bad. Wan Sek Kan Yiu…

Next time honey…..

:(

No body aches… Yippee.

I cannot remember the last time I had any real form of exercise; no jogging, no gym, even my diving suits has been sitting somewhere collecting dust. Not that I can still fit into them anyway.

Basically the only exercise I’ve got over the last two years was running around a hyper toddler. If that counts.

Two days ago I decided, enough is enough. Cannot be so slack anymore. Don’t want to be wong min por; more so a fat lazy one. So I hit the gym after I tuck Ryan for his afternoon nap.

@ the gym, after a quick strecthing, I hit the treadmill. Started with 30 minutes of brisk walking, then 15 minutes of jog and another good 15 minutes of slow walk. By then, my legs are numb already. So call it quit.

But then my semangat suddenly built up. I picked up the iron dumbell, 2.5kg on each side and start pumping. There goes … up down up down, total of 50 times each arm. By then I was really dead tired already. Both my legs and arms have to surrender. One hour of workout sure sweats me out. Aaahh.. getting old leh.

I was anticipating body ache when I woke up this morning after the excessive exercise the day before. Surprisingly ‘mo si’. No aches at all. Mmm.. I guess the running around after a toddler does help shape me into a healthier person.

I’m going again tomorrow.. hope I can keep up to this routine.

Blessing in disguise

The Hong Kong government announced late on Wednesday that all primary schools and kindergartens would be closed for two weeks to prevent further spread of a flu outbreak. Four dead have been reported, all of children age 2 to 7 years old. I was shocked. I had earlier learned about the increased number of flu cases in HK from starhub HK news channel but it was not reported on the media here until yesterday; after the government made that drastic announcement in hope to control situation and exercise extreme cautious. Better be safe than sorry. I lauded the government’s move. Unfortunately, you’ll be surprised that there are some parents who criticise the move claiming it was too last minute and that they do not know what they should do with their children now that they gets 2 weeks off. Ridiculous? It’s true….

Now don’t the postponement of my trip is a blessing in disguise? Phew… big big phew.

17 month old baby can read

I came across this link while browsing earlier and thought it’s pretty interesting to share.

The parents of Elizabeth, 17 month old claimed that the baby’s ability to read at such young age was influenced by sign language they taught her since young. I’m not too sure about that as me for sure did not teach Ryan any sign language, probably that explains why he showed no interest in speech until he was like 18 months.

On the other hand, I have parents who shared with me their tot’s speech development were hindered because the child was so used and dependant on sign rather than language in expressing their want and needs.

There are lots of books on this topic out there. But I guess why the rush right…. let the child develop at their own pace and keep a reasonably healthy track of their milestone ma ok lor…

Oh somebody knocked on my door when I was typing. He is a boy scout, probably age 10 or so asking for donation. He said they can wash the car, polish shoes, etc etc… I gave a small donation and signed the card. No need to help me do anything la. I have sotong ma. Somehow it kinda reminded me of the days I combed the street selling flags as part of a donation drive organised by my school. Mmm.. sure feels so good after a good deed.

Achooo…. having a bad flu. Dem.

Trip Postponed

Sigh… big big sigh…….

Our trip to Hong Kong Disneyland initially scheduled for 21st – 24th March has been shelved (in hubs’ words ‘postponed’). All the hotels, flight, bookings and reservations, has to be cancelled because hubs has a deal launching the same week (last minute decision by client).

Liu kan yiu or wan sek kan yiu‘ (Canto: Which is more important; holiday or work?). The answer is obvious.

Arghhh…..

I have to apologise to her though.. if not because I tempted her she probably will not go.. now she has to go along without us. Hope she will have loads and loads of fun and loots from the trip.

Obsession with bags

I am so into trouble. I actually just bought myself new bags when I was back in KL for the chinese new year. Barely a month had passed, my itchy hands are now browsing for a new bag.

I really don’t know what is wrong. First I wanted a sling bag for groceries – bought, then I need a bigger sling so I could put in my dslr (which I also bought), then I even bought a small sling to keep angpows (I know… how silly but it’s really cool cos it comes with 3 compartments for me to keep different value of angpows. Heehee..).

Hubs is already making noise (a lot of noise) that I’m spending too much (money and time) on bags. I hope this post will send shivers down my spine reminding myself not to waste anymore time and effort browsing for it. Boss not happy already……..

Oh…. btw.. this is the bag I WAS eyeing………..

Sui (cantik) boh? :P
